Changes to medics in drop 5 have created two separate LAS specs: A Gamma Ray (GR) build meant for single target, and a Quantum Cascade (QC) build meant for multi-target aoe. Currently the QC spec outperforms GR even on single target, so the GR spec is only viable for specific fights (ones that benefit from GR's range, i.e. Spider Convergence). It is also worth noting that these new specs can allow some variation in abilities used, with small, but acceptable DPS losses/gains. So, in other words, pick the one you like.
My QC Spec (for 5 mans, and max Ability Points/AMPs)
- Variations: I always run Calm (CC Break, threat drop) in 5 mans because of threat issues and my own personal survivability. Can be swapped with Empowering Probes or Fissure. I'd stick with Nullifier, though, because of the nature of Fields; a one hit ability, say Atomize, could miss, resulting in 0 damage done. Damage Fields can miss on the first tick, but still hit on successive ones. Each tick can also crit.
My QC Spec (for 5 mans, at base Ability Points/AMPs)
- Variations: Again, dropping Calm for something else. This one requires Atomize, as T4 Collider isn't as efficient as T8 Discharge in Actuator gains.
My QC Spec (most raid trash)
- Variations: Could drop Regenerator AMP for Surgical AMP, and use Field Probes for the damage buff. I'm not a fan though, due to the cost of the AMP, loss of another ability for Field Probes, and the erratic nature of boss fights.
My QC Build (no interrupt build, DS trash)
- Variations: Dropping Atomize for Urgency (On x89 for example).
Rotation ('->' means squish -- meaning using an ability while the previous one is still casting)
Gadget->QC->Discharge, Annihilation->Energize->Empowering Probes
QC->Discharge, Collider->Nullifier
QC->Discharge, Annihilation
QC->Discharge, Collider->Fissure
Repeat
Atomize (if you're running it), Gadget, Energize, Empowering Probes on CD.
My build maximizes uptime on Annihilation. There is another popular QC build, created by Dr. House, that better exploits the current hold-to-cast bug involving QC. I don't care for it, as it's not fun having to hold down the QC button for an entire fight. I also find it a bit boring.
Now onto GR. The GR Spec has a lot of variations at the moment, mostly due to the gear checks some of them require to use. A QC competing GR spec requires upwards of 40% crit to efficiently keep T4 Atomize proccing. The one I posted is my base for Spider Convergence, so Antidote can be swapped with Empowering Probes; Calm with Fissure.
Rotation
Due to the RNG nature of Atomize, and Power Cadence's Actuators gains, the rotation is loose.
GR x 4, Collider->Devastator Probes, repeat
Atomize and Empowering Probes on CD
The rotation is loose remember, due to Power Cadence and Atomize actuator gains, so sometimes 3 GRs, sometimes 5. The trick is to keep Devastator Probes up and ready to pop, and keep Collider's charge CD running.
The lack of Discharge in the build can make it a bit daunting. Some variations use Emission as a builder, coupled with the Scalpel/Forceps AMP, to offset the DPS loss. I haven't experimented much with this, as like I said, a competing GR build has crazy gear requirements.
